Question:
My boyfriend is not a Christian but he respects that I am, which is wonderful. He also loves listening to my weird stories and always asks me about how I’m doing and what’s going on. I do the same. Anyway, we were kissing and he put his hand on my boob, then stopped and asked if it was fine. I said, “Yeah, it’s fine.” He kept asking about whether it was right or wrong because he, in his words, he didn’t “want to be one of those guys.” I liked it so I said maybe not then. Now that I look back at it, was that wrong for me to be fine with his hands being there?
Answer:
I find it odd that a non-Christian was more concerned about crossing boundaries into inappropriate behavior than a Christian.
“Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman” (I Corinthians 7:1).
In the quote, Paul is saying that men should not sexually touch women when they are not married. If you understand that sex outside of marriage (fornication) is wrong, then the things that stir up sexual passion (lewdness, sexual touching, and lust) are also wrong because these things lead to fornication.
You can’t use your feelings to determine whether something is right or wrong. Sexual intercourse feels good, but it is wrong when you are not married. Being sexually touched feels good, but it causes your passion to rise and it is harder to make good judgments when you are sexually aroused.
