Question:
I’m 14 years old and I just started my period. I’m 5’1. My mom is 5’7 and my dad is about 5’8 – 5’9. My sister, she’s 12 and she is 5’4, hasn’t started her period. I’m wondering will I get to my mom’s or dad’s height? I hate that my sister is taller than me. Will I grow anymore? I really want to get to the height of 5’6. Will I grow like 5 more inches since I’m already 14? Do you think my sister will be taller than me in adulthood?
Please help me.
Answer:
For some girls, your first period signals the end of your stage of rapid growth. When that happens, she will gain one to two more inches after her period starts. Given your age, I assume you have recently reached stage 4. So yes, it is very likely that your younger sister will be taller than you. The best thing you can do is stop competing with your sister, especially in areas that can’t be controlled. You are who you are and your sister is who she is.
