Question:
Can I get pregnant if my uterus is not straight?
Answer:
If you look at the diagram to the right, you will see that a woman’s uterus (#3 in the diagram) normally has a bend in it. About 20% of women have their uterus bending the other way so that it is near the rectum instead of the bladder. It is called “retroversion of the uterus.” This difference in position does not affect being able to become pregnant or giving birth, though some women with this condition do have severe lower back pains while carrying a child or when they have their monthly period.
I don’t know what condition you have been diagnosed with, but most would not interfere with getting pregnant. The concern is usually whether you will be able to carry a child to full term and be able to give birth to the child.
