Am I sinning by letting my boyfriend touch my private areas?

Question:

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are both freshmen in high school, and we have been dating for a year. We’re both saved and do not participate in sexual activity. He has felt my breasts, felt the “down there” area, he sucks on my nipples, and we make out is any of that wrong? If so I would like to stop.

Yes, we love each other dearly, but we both want to save ourselves until we’re married.

Also, I haven’t been doing that great as a Christian with school, sports, etc. I barely have time to read my Bible. How can I change this? Being a young Christian is harder than most think. Fighting curious sexual urges, battling society with how they carry themselves, balancing all these things out — it’s not a piece of cake.

Answer:

Each generation thinks its concerns are unique because it is what they are experiencing and they have no experience with the earlier generations. “Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this” (Ecclesiastes 7:10). Think about it a moment. Which generation did not have young people dealing with sexual urges? While society’s view of sex swings between disapproval and acceptance, there have always been elements who ignored the rules. Peer pressure has always been a problem. “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits”” (I Corinthians 15:33). This is why Paul said, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man …” (I Corinthians 10:13).

While you and your boyfriend are committed to not engage in fornication, you are overlooking that there are other sexual sins. See: I’m afraid of losing my boyfriend, but we haven’t been acting properly and I know I’m losing God.
