Could I get pregnant if he withdrew before ejaculating?

Last updated on October 31, 2020

I have had sex with my boyfriend many times. Mostly he uses the withdrawal method. At times after he pulls out his penis from my vagina, he quickly wipes the penis and returns it inside of me. I was not sure if this was safe, so I used emergency pills three times. However, it’s like they did not work. My breasts are aching and I have lower back pains. Could it be possible that I am pregnant?

The chance of pregnancy always exists when sex takes place, no matter what the precautions. What your boyfriend is doing does not decrease the odds of you getting pregnant by much. While he is avoiding ejaculating most of his semen in you, wiping his penis does not remove all of it and some semen always remains in the penis and then drips out after ejaculating. It only takes one sperm in his semen reaching your egg to cause you to become pregnant.

While aching breasts and back pains are symptoms of later pregnancy, they are not early indications of early pregnancy. The only accurate way to find out is to use a home pregnancy test. Most are effective two weeks after you missed your expected period. If you had a period since the last time you had sex, then you are not pregnant.

However, while I understand your concern about becoming pregnant, that would not be a concern if you had listened to God and not have sex at all. Sex is restricted to married couples with good reasons — one of them being that children can result from sex. The true concern is that you sinning and such sins can keep you out of heaven. “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). Momentary pleasure is not worth losing your soul over.
