I’ve sinned sexually several times. What do I do?

Question:

Hi,

I’m a girl. I have committed a sin about five years ago by sleeping with three girls and also having sex with my cousin when I was 7 and 12 years old before I knew God. I started to go to a real church last year. Two days ago I almost had sex with my younger cousin. Yesterday it was very close; we could have had sex because his penis was inside of me.

It’s not easy telling you. I would like you to help me know God better and to be close to Jesus because I’m lost. I would like the holy angels to rejoice when I found Jesus as I read in the Bible. What must I do and how because I’m even scared now to go to church on Sunday. Please help because you are the one who I confessed to now and God.

Answer:

Thank you for trusting me with your problems. While we can talk about past problems, what I would like to focus on at the moment is your current one, since it seems more pressing.

You are correct that having sex with your cousin is wrong. Any sex outside of marriage is a sin. “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4). It doesn’t matter if he ejaculated in you or not, the fact that he put his penis in you is wrong because it is fornication.

You don’t have to let any boy have sex with you. You shouldn’t even be undressing with males. You can and you should tell them “No.” What I don’t know is why these things are happening. Because of this, I only can affirm that it is wrong. But if you want to take about details regarding how to stop these behaviors, I would need to know why these things are happening to you.

In regards to salvation from sin, I would like you to read: “What Must I Do to be Saved?” That is the best place to start. Then let me know what questions you have.

While I know you don’t feel good enough to worship, avoiding church is like a sick person refusing to see a doctor. I don’t want you going to church thinking that God approves of your sins, but you do need to go to work on overcoming your sin.
