Question:
I am a girl of 23 years. I have been in this relationship for sometimes now. My boyfriend and I agreed not to have sex until we are ready (when we get married), but recently we have engaged in oral sex and almost had sex. I feel so guilty to see that my relationship is affecting my stand with God, and I don’t want that. I wanted my relationship with my boyfriend to be godly. I love God, and I don’t want to lose Him. Should I break up with my boyfriend?
Please help me.
Answer:
See: Is it OK to be sexual with someone you will marry soon?
The nature of sin is that it progresses. Unless you do something to change the situation, this will continue to intercourse and you becoming pregnant.
Paul’s advice is “But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion” (I Corinthians 7:8-9). So go get married. If you don’t want to get married, then is it foolish to be having sex with someone who doesn’t care that much for you?
You are right to be worried about your relationship with God. You’ve been sinning for a while now. The danger is not when your boyfriend gets his penis into you, you’ve been in sin in many ways long before this point. It is time to stop and start living life God’s way. If that is not suitable for your boyfriend, then he isn’t a suitable marriage partner.
