Question
I dated a guy who forced himself on me and ran away the next day. Now I’m in a relationship with somebody who values purity. Does my loss deprive me of a good man? I it was not my choice. I love him. I know I should tell him, but how do I explain myself? Is there spiritual virginity?
Answer:
If he asks, be honest. You dated a guy once who raped you and then left. It wasn’t your choice and if had known in advance what he would do, you would never have dated him in the first place. If this man you are currently dating cannot sympathize with you, then he isn’t as good of a man as you think.
What you find in the Bible is that fornication is condemned, not being a victim of a rape. I’m sorry it happened to you, but don’t think less of yourself because someone was a creep.
