Question:
Hi,
I am 19 years old and live in a generation where you can’t have a relationship without sex. I have been doing good so far! All my friends and cousins already have had sex, and I am so tempted to do it also. Every guy I meet or want to have a potential relationship with always wants to have sex. I feel like the last teenager who’s a virgin left on earth! I have needs too. Sometimes all I think about is sex. My question is: Does the Bible say anything about oral sex or masturbation?
Answer:
“So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” Then the LORD said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. “Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. “It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill. “Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him”” (I Kings 19:13-18).
It might appear that you are the last virgin on earth, but that is solely because few people announce their sexual experience in general conversation. According to Guttmacher Institute in “Facts on American Teens’ Sexual and Reproductive Health” 54% of teenagers (15-19) have not had sex. Of 15 year olds only, 87% have not had sex. But if you only look at the 19 years that number drops to 30%. The data is from 2006. Thus, you aren’t alone.
Being a Christian isn’t about indulging the flesh but denying personal desires in order to live by God’s ideals.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me” (Galatians 2:20).
“Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:24-25).
Oral sex is still a form of sex and is forbidden prior to marriage. See: Have I sinned by giving up my virginity? Regarding masturbation, see: I have a habit of masturbating. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to say “no” to this thing.
