Since I got my period late, is there a chance I will grow taller?

Last updated on October 17, 2020

Question:

I am 16 years old and just barely 5’2″, my mother is 5’2″ and my father is 5’11”. I didn’t get my period until I was 14.5 years old. I have been a vegetarian for the last 3 years, and I just recently started eating meat again in hopes that it would help me grow taller. I am about 90 pounds, and very small chested. Since I got my period so late, are there chances that I will grow still? The Tanner test said that I was at level 3.5. All my cousins and sisters are tall. Will I continue to grow?

I would appreciate any information you can give me, thanks so much!

Answer:

Tanner stage 3 is the stage of rapid growth. Assuming the estimate is accurate, then you are in the middle of your growth spurt.
