Question:
I’m so confused right now. A guy friend kissed me, knowing I have a boyfriend. I have been dating my boyfriend for over two years now. He is my best friend, and I won’t love anyone else but him. I was frozen when my friend kissed me. I didn’t know he would do such a thing. I was so stupid. I feel like there is a hole inside my heart and it is killing me.
Last night I told my boyfriend and he is really mad at me because I didn’t push the guy away. I understand his point of view, but I was frozen at that time, I don’t know what to think. I feel really terrible and I’m really afraid of my guy friend now. I only love my boyfriend and I’ll never ever cheat on him ever.
Do you think God will end my relationship with my boyfriend because of what happened? Do you think my boyfriend will ever forgive me?
Please, I really need help.
Answer:
God made people free moral agents. People make their own choices. If your relationship ends with your boyfriend, it will be because of the choices you and he make.
So the guy caught you off guard. He kissed you and because you weren’t expecting it, you didn’t know what to do. That isn’t the issue. The question is what are you doing about it now that you’ve had time to think? It would seem to me that the logical response is to no longer have this guy as a friend. Cut your dealings with him and let that be the end of the matter.
