When will I get my period?

Last updated on October 20, 2020

I was just wondering when I will get my period. I started puberty approximately at 12 and a half. Now I am 14. I am at stage 3.2 if I did it correctly. Also, I was wondering when my breasts would get bigger, I can’t even fit into an A cup yet. My mom is a B cup and my grandma is a C cup. They are basically how you described in the Tanner stage calculator, “My breasts are swelling beyond the areola and sticking out a bit, but they are not shaped like a woman’s breast.” And when will my breasts be at stage 4? One more question – do younger siblings start puberty at the same age as you did?

It seems few people enjoy not knowing exactly what the future holds. I’m sorry to say that I can’t tell you the future either. I can only speak in generalities. I can’t tell you what will happen to you specifically. Each person is an individual. While many things tend to happen in roughly the same time frame when you are closely related, each person can be different in starting times. A sibling can start earlier or later in development.

Some girls have their first menstruation before their growth spurt (in stage 2) and the rest have their first menstruation after their growth spurt (in stage 4). You indicate that you have just started your growth spurt, so your first period will likely come when you reach stage 4.

Each stage lasts roughly a year for girls. So you should reach stage 4 next year.
